Commencal stands for gravity. With their various downhill teams, they have been shaping the World Cup in the downhill discipline for years. Accordingly, the e-mountainbikes from the direct-to-consumer company from Andorra are also designed for trails and downhill riding.
The latest model, which hasn't even been officially presented yet, will crown this focus. The aluminium frame has 185 mm of travel at the rear and is fitted with 180 mm forks - that says a lot about the new Commencal Meta Power SX 800.
The name of the new Commencal E-MTB can easily cause confusion. The Andorran company traditionally calls its bikes with mullet wheels SX. This has nothing to do with the SX Light motor from Bosch. On the contrary: the Meta Power SX 800 comes with the powerful Bosch Performance CX.
After the announced update, the Bosch CX will be one of the most powerful motors on the market with 100 Nm and up to 750 watts. There is also a large battery to match. The Powertube 800 is permanently installed in the down tube. As an option, the range can be increased by 250 Wh with the Bosch Power More. The new Bosch Kiox 400C display is located in the top tube of the bike.
The Supreme DH downhill bike has brought Commencal many Word Cup victories and has also been a favourite with us. Fully scored in various tests. The rear triangle was particularly impressive. Commencal calls the kinematics in the rear with a virtual centre of rotation VCS. And this approach can also be found in the new Meta Power SX 800. In addition, the direct mail order company has equipped its aluminium bike with MX wheels, i.e. a 29er front wheel and a 27.5 inch rear wheel.
The equipment is robust in order to do justice to the bike's urge to descend. A 38 mm fork at the front and the new Float X2 from Fox at the rear - at least that applies to the top model on display in Riva. The thick DT Swiss freeride wheels are fitted with Maxxis tyres with DD casing at the rear and Exo+ at the front.

Commencal has announced the official launch of the bike for June. All details and prices will then be available on the manufacturer's website. At the Bike Festival in Riva, those responsible announced two models for 7500 and 8500 euros. The bikes will then be delivered from September or October 2025.
