Commencal, a shipper from Andorrais further expanding its e-fleet: After the Trail hardtail Meta HT Power is now followed by the full-suspension Meta Power. Commencal pairs the 150 millimetre rear triangle with a 160 mm fork. In combination with the grippy 2.6 inch wide Maxxis tyres on 35 mm rims, the E-MTB promises good downhill performance.
To enable short chainstays, Commencal relies on the Shimano Steos motor with an external 500 Wh battery. This sits on the aluminium down tube. The Meta Power should therefore have a chainstay length of 444 millimetres - only seven millimetres more than the non-motorised version of the Meta. The 66 mm steering angle in combination with the 458 millimetre reach (in size L) should ensure a very smooth ride.
As is typical for mail-order bikes, the equipment is very high quality in relation to the price: the entry-level Meta Power Origin model for 4000 euros comes with a Rock Shox Yari suspension fork and Super Deluxe shock. The gears and brakes are from the Shimano Deore groupset. The Essential model for 4500 euros has a Rock Shox Lyrik suspension fork and a Super Deluxe steel spring damper. The eleven gears are shifted by the Sram GX drivetrain and the brakes are provided by the Guide RE. The top-of-the-range E-MTB model from Commencal - the Race version for 5000 euros - also relies on the Lyrik fork and the Super Deluxe steel spring damper. Here, the eight gears are shifted with the Sram EX1.
