With the Trailbanger, Centurion heralds a new generation of enduro bikes. We were curious to see what potential lies dormant in the solid frame with a slack steering angle and a generous 170 millimetres of suspension travel.

In the medium frame height, the Trailbanger already has quite a long reach and is also quite tall in terms of standover height. Despite the short chainstays, physical effort is therefore required. Compared to the agile Kona, the Trailbanger feels much bulkier. In terms of the amount of travel, no other bike can hold a candle to the Centurion. Nevertheless, the performance version of the Fox 36 didn't work as smoothly as a Rock Shox Pike. The shock without a reservoir, which is only available on the more expensive model, is also unusual for the long travel. Pedalling uphill, the rear suspension is very stable even without a platform.

Test summary of the Centurion Trailbanger EXC 2000.27

A solid but not very playful enduro bike. Better to go for the smaller size.

The alternative The Trailbanger 800.27 entry-level version with SR Suntour fork and shock costs a good 1000 euros less. Sram GX and Tektro brakes bring the price down. The equipment means 700 grams more.
