Our highlight from Lake Garda: the new Mondraker e-Crusher with Shimano Steps motor integrated in the carbon frame. The futuristic look is polarising. The sharply designed carbon fibre chassis was completely redeveloped by the Spaniards, and the Mondraker trademarks can also be found here: Forward geometry and the Zero Suspension rear triangle.
The high-end bikes come in enduro guise: with the 150 mm rear triangle and 160 mm suspension fork, the e-Crusher should even be suitable for racing and still impress with its agility on the trail. The geometry sounds more like a tough race bike: the moderate 66.5 degree steering angle paired with the mega-reach (486 millimetres in large) should ensure a very smooth ride, but with the 30 mm stub stem, there should be no stretching bench feeling. The fairly short rear triangle (450 millimetres) promises agile handling.
The developers have adapted the Zero rear triangle to the new load, and no new standards have been left out: The top model features the new Fox Float X shock, while the more affordable E-MTB from Mondraker comes with the Rock Shox Super Deluxe. Both in metric length and with a trunnion mount.
For more traction and safety, both Mondraker e-Crusher models roll on 2.8 inch wide Maxxis Plus tyres. The tyres sit on massive 40 mm rims. The Spaniards have opted for DHF tyres at the front and High Roller tyres at the rear. With this combination, you are equipped for all eventualities.
The top model comes with Fox Factory suspension with Kashima coating and Fox Transfer seatpost. The eleven gears are shifted electronically by the Shimano XT, with powerful Shimano Saint brakes with 200 mm discs. The 22.2-kilo bike also features the new Mavic E-XA Elite UST wheels. Price: 9000 euros.
The 600 gram heavier model is available from dealers for 6600 euros. The Rock Shox Yari suspension fork and the Super Deluxe damp the R+, the seat post is from Onoff. Here you shift mechanically through the eleven gears of the XT, while Sram's new Guide RE brakes take care of the deceleration. The wheels are made by Mondraker themselves.
