After the Linkin Trail and the Long Travel version of it, the Swiss come from Bold with something new. Unplugged is the name of the bike that we were able to see and test for the first time as a prototype at the BIKE Festival on Lake Garda. The prototype has 165 millimetres of travel at the rear and can be ridden with a 170 mm fork. Typical Bold: The shock is protected in the bottom bracket area inside the carbon frame. This guarantees a tidy look and makes the Bold Unplugged a real eye-catcher.
In line with the enduro orientation, there is now also space for shocks with reservoirs. In terms of wheel size, the Unplugged offers maximum versatility. Different wheel sizes can be used via interchangeable chips on the Horstlink and the geometry can be adapted accordingly. 29 x 2.6 inches (pictured), 29 x 2.3 as well as 27.5 x 2.8 and 27.5 x 2.4 inches are possible. The chainstay length varies from 433 to 444 millimetres. The steering angle can also be adjusted from an extremely slack 63.3 to 65.2 degrees using an insert in the head tube. The insert for adjusting the steering angle comes from Newmen and was presented for the first time at the Eurobike 2017 presented. Another clever detail: the fully integrated telescopic seatpost from Kindshock, which slides directly into the seat tube. BIKE was the first magazine to test the Unplugged: In the flat steering angle setting, the Bold also smoothes out rough trails and ensures maximum safety. The rear suspension with Rockshox Super Deluxe shock worked sensitively on climbs and swallowed well on descents.
A production-ready version of the Bold Unplugged was finally presented at the Eurobike Media Days in Serfaus. The carbon frame, geometry and details such as steering angle adjustment and flip chips have not changed. But now the final paint finishes and prices have been finalised. The new Unplugged from the Swiss company will be available in two colour variants: white/black and red/black. Bold has also made some price changes: the bikes will be cheaper for the 2019 season - including the existing Linkin Trail model. For the new Super Enduro Unplugged, you'll pay 4746 euros in Germany in the most basic configuration and 4920 CHF in Switzerland. For this you get the clean, stylish frame, which houses the new DT Swiss R 535 One shock. There is also a Sram GX Eagle 1x12 shifting group, Sram Guide brakes and a Rock Shox Yari suspension fork. Instead of the integrated Kindshock dropper post, this unplugged model has a normal LEV Integra. The bike weighs 13.9 kg without pedals.
