Nestled between the highest mountains in Austria lies East Tyrol. Far away from the well-known tourist strongholds, between the Grossglockner, Lienz Dolomites and Carnic Ridge, some of the most beautiful natural places in the Alps are waiting to be discovered on an e-bike.
In Bike Land East Tyrol, Tyrol's south-eastern top floor, there are no fewer than 266 peaks over 3000 metres above sea level. That's why East Tyrol is also known as "Mountain Tyrol"! Over the years, a strong awareness of nature, climate and outdoor sports has developed in the region south of the main Alpine ridge. East Tyrol's geography, topography and infrastructure are predestined for e-mountain biking: the mountain world is exceptionally unspoilt, the valleys long and often steep at the end, the variety of routes endless. The huts, including those in the Hohe Tauern National Park, are mostly accessible with wide paths and often offer the opportunity to recharge your (bike) battery. At the same time, East Tyrol is far removed from mass tourism and guarantees pure peace and relaxation. And last but not least: The summits offer better views than any cinema. Yes, East Tyrol is different! Here, nature, power and tranquillity merge in the shadow of almost 300 three-thousand metre peaks. In East Tyrol you also cycle in the Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest national park in Central Europe.
Vast glacier fields, deep green mountain lakes and roaring glacial streams with impressive waterfalls invite you on a journey of discovery in the Alpine wilderness. So if you are looking for enjoyable tours on an e-mountainbike with plenty of open space and want to discover unspoilt valleys, you will be delighted with East Tyrol! The East Tyrol Tourist Board has successively expanded its e-bike offers so that nothing stands in the way of your mountain biking pleasure. Thanks to the now extensive infrastructure with around 600 kilometres of signposted trails, e-bike hire and numerous e-bike charging stations, there are almost unlimited attractive tours available.
TOUR TIP: A real insider tour leads into Austria's longest Almtal valley, the 16 kilometre-long Debanttal, to the Lienzer Hütte. Here you are already in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park and can enjoy the tranquillity and power of nature to the full. While you enjoy the regional specialities at the Lienzer Hütte, you can recharge your bike battery at the newly installed e-bike charging station.
