The appearance of the Stevens E-Bormio is successful: A sloping top tube and only slightly curved handlebars suggest sportiness, while the suspension fork provides additional comfort. You sit in a slightly sporty and relaxed position on the bike, which has a geometry designed for straight-line touring. The adjustable stem ensures a customisable position, meaning that the Stevens E-Bormio is also ideal for everyday use.
The lightweight Shimano motor harmonises well with the 10-speed derailleur gears and, despite the rather low torque, also cuts a fine figure on climbs. It also helps to keep the bike weight low at a good 23 kilograms and, thanks to its smooth running, it can also be ridden without assistance on flat terrain. Its 504 watt-hour battery is easy to remove.
The Hamburg-based bike manufacturer has always built robust frames with high-quality workmanship. Bikes that you can feel comfortable on - also in terms of safety: the front brake disc has a diameter of 180 millimetres, which means that the brakes are crisp. The 50 lux Trelock headlights are bright enough even for night rides outside the city. At 2799 euros, this is a really good value-for-money deal.
The Stevens E-Bormio is an all-round successful, lightweight all-rounder. If you like a sportier riding position and an upbeat look, but always have everyday practicality in mind, this affordable bike is a good choice. Tip: The price will fall by another 200 euros at the start of 2024. Georg Bleicher, MYBIKE test editor
