The scrub actually comes from racing. You use it when you don't want to take off, but want to push the bike as flat as possible over the edge. True to the motto: Airtime makes you slow.

But the Scrub also looks damn stylish. It is heavier than you would expect, especially if you perform it at race speed. Although you can do the move at a slower speed, you probably won't make it to the landing. Lukas shows you the tricks.

Approach

I already start in a slight curve - this supports the scrub movement. The same applies here: find your best side. The body position is slightly further forwards than with a normal jump.

Airtime refusal

As soon as the front wheel has left the jump, I perform this steering movement even more intensively. The arms generate the impulse, the hips push the rear discreetly outwards. Result: The rear breaks out. Important: Always keep your body upright! Again, make sure you don't hang too far back - come forwards!

Swing on

My eyes aim for the landing. My arms straighten the handlebars just in time. The tail follows this movement automatically. If it's not straight when I land, that's no problem. The momentum pulls it back on track.

Common mistakes:

  • Little determination
  • Lack of hip support
  • Body position too rear-heavy
