Long-fingered gloves are commonplace among mountain bikers: touring riders like a little more protection. This is how the Roeckl Menyon MTB glove performs on the trail.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to be a glove? Certainly not nice. After all, gloves get a lot of abuse when mountain biking. From wiping your nose to wiping the chain to crashes. Sometimes they even have to be used to carry wood. Not to mention the sweat and the constant clinging to the handlebars. But someone has to do the job.

Silicone for more grip on the handlebars

For example the Roeckl Menyon for just under 40 euros. It accompanied us for many hours on various trails in Europe. The Menyon is the facelift of the Minden and is available in three different colours. The combination of mesh polyester backhand and synthetic palm should make it the ideal companion on MTB tours. For an extra portion of grip, Roeckl has printed the palm with silicone over a large area. The padding has been omitted for a more direct feel. The cuffs are pulled up wide and reinforced with Kevlar to protect the pulse artery. The towelling thumb is almost a matter of course. However, the padding on the thumb joint is not a matter of course. However, this rubbed a little depending on the grip position. Although the fingers are already slightly pre-curved for better ergonomics, the palm wrinkles slightly when the fingers are fully flexed. Fortunately, this is not noticeable while riding. The glove is suitable for both warm and cooler days, although the ventilation is not quite sufficient in temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius. But you can overlook this, because thanks to the silicone prints, the Menyon always offers plenty of grip, even in extremely wet conditions. After many weeks of endurance testing, wear is still very limited. The silicone in particular has held up surprisingly well. On the other hand, the palm of the hand is a little fuzzy.

Test summary of the Roeckl Menyon:

The Roeckl Menyon MTB glove is ideal for year-round riders in temperate climates who value durability, protection and functionality. For our latitudes, it is only suitable on the hottest summer days and in winter.
