Lots of grip and feel: lightweight gloves
The current trend is: "Ride without gloves." The industry doesn't like this; it responds with very light gloves for a lot of grip and even more feeling.

The results of the five lightweight gloves from the FREERIDE check can be found right here:

Giro "Xen"

The Giro "Xen" sits comfortably and impresses with a very good fit. A Velcro fastener secures it firmly to the wrist. Sewn-in foam pads protect the heel of the hand and the three outer knuckles. These features are very well thought out. The workmanship is high quality - only the silicone strips on the inside of the index and middle fingers came loose after a short period of use.

ION "Gat"

The "Gat" has the slim cut of a surgeon's glove - without a Velcro fastener. However, once you have it on, the glove fits well and comfortably. Thin mash material on the back of the hand provides plenty of flexibility, comfort and ventilation. Good: the soft terry cloth on the thumb. There's hardly any protection here either, but a direct feel. Shortcoming: The thumb is a little short.

Royal "Quantum"

The "Quantum" is a typical new-school glove: light, comfortable, wafer-thin fabric. Stretch material on the back of the hand gives freedom of movement and provides the necessary ventilation. There is some criticism for the slightly short fingers and the crease in the palm. Good: The Velcro fastener makes it easier to slip on and closes well.

Specialised "Lodown" (FREERIDE tip)

The Specialized "Lodown" does not need a Velcro fastener. No problem. Thanks to the stretch material, it's child's play to slip on. The glove encloses the hand snugly. The fit is almost perfect. Good: the comfortable towelling material on the thumb (for dabbing your nose). Protection and cushioning are low - no foam pads are sewn in. The "Lodown" will be available in new colours in 2015.

Troy Lee "Air Glove"

Simple, colourful and damn stylish. Troy Lee Design knows what a glove should look like. The "Air Glove" is comfortable to wear because the fit is perfect. Thanks to the Velcro fastening, you slip in smoothly. The robust stretch material on the back of the hand provides sufficient freedom of movement. Good: Silicone strips on the inside of the hand and on the brake fingers provide grip. The glove has hardly any protective effect and the white synthetic leather on the inside is instantly soiled.
