How sexy is that? A product that you don't want to use and still costs up to 350 euros? Really waterproof rain jackets - especially after a summer like this one - are no more a pleasure purchase than a car spare wheel. The only problem is that rain jackets are hard to do without in Germany. In autumn and winter, cold and damp are the norm. Really good weather protection then develops unmissable charms: without it, the bike season is quickly over.
In the search for a good bike feeling in bad weather, it turns out that there is no "one and only" rain jacket for all bikers. The functional tailors have three basic types in mind: Type one ploughs through the muddy bike park with a lowered seat post. He forgoes light weight, aerodynamics and, if necessary, vapour permeability, as long as the jacket stays tight and doesn't tear. Type two builds up their form in the low mountain ranges over autumn and winter. He demands a good skin climate and a slim fit because the jacket is sometimes in use from start to finish. Alpine crossers, the third basic type, would collapse in a cold sweat uphill in any rain jacket. But the lightest possible textile life insurance that packs down small belongs in their multi-day luggage.
