Rain brings blessings? Not for bikers in autumn. That's why we have BIKE 11/2019 for you 12 rain jackets tested. They included almost indestructible expedition models up to 270 euros, sporty minimalist jackets between 150 and 200 euros and price breakers that promise decent weather protection for less than 150 euros.
The Decathlon Rockrider ST 900 is a rain jacket for bikers. It is grey, weighs 378 grams and costs 60 euros. Can the discounter jacket hold its own in the disciplines of cut/fit, function/features and weight/pack size against the competition, some of which are more than four times as expensive? Decathlon against Craft, Cube, Endura, Gonso, Gore, Karpos, Löffler, Mavic, Pearl Izumi, ShowersPass and Vaude - in BIKE 11/2019, currently on sale.
But even a good rain jacket doesn't make for a dry bike tour. Nothing is more unpleasant than a cold trickle of water running down your neck and over your back. Brrrrrrr. For the helmet, a shower cap or helmet cover will help in a pinch. There are waterproof caps or bonnets for underneath. Also extremely important: warm feet and hands. They don't always have to stay completely dry, but they do need wind protection from the outside and a warming layer.
Gore Bike Wear C7
Rain trousers like the Gore C5 Active Trail Shorts have to keep your bum and genital area dry. The C5 does this despite its casual cut. They are lightweight, packable, reinforced at the seat and have a small inside pocket.
Price: RRP 150 Euro
Gore Bike Wear C7
It's important to keep a dry head in wet conditions and low temperatures. The Gore underwear cap with visor guides the drops past the nose, while a membrane allows sweat vapour to escape.

100% Hydromatic
Warm hands are extremely important. The manufacturer 100% produces its Hydromatic gloves from waterproof PU laminate. Roughened silicone palms provide grip in wet conditions. The index finger and thumb are touch-compatible. The sizes are very small.

Endura MT500 II
Overshoes are one of the strengths of the Scottish manufacturer Endura. Their MT500 II model made from neoprene has a robust rubber outsole with a cap in the front area and can therefore withstand long runs.

GripGrap Waterproof Socks
Safe socks from Danish accessory specialist GripGrab: The Waterproof Socks have a waterproof and breathable membrane between their two knitted layers with bamboo content. They are relatively thin, but quickly become too tight in tight racing shoes.
Price: RRP 45 Euro
GripGrap RaceAqua X MTB/CX
The lightweight and waterproof overshoe is for racers who find neoprene overshoes too bulky. Its Kevlar material ensures good durability. Originally built for racing bikes, the version for mountain bikes has a large opening for click inserts - even off-road pro van der Poel starts with it.
Price: RRP 50 Euro
Shimano SH MT7 L
The Shimano SH MT7 L is the Gore-Tex version of the popular all-round MT7 model with a Boa fastener. Not suitable for bike battles in deep mud due to the low cut. Nevertheless, its stable, raised sole and membrane make it more suitable for riding in the rain in autumn than summer bike shoes.
Price: RRP 180 Euro >> e.g. available at Rosebikes
Cressi Anti-Fog
You know your way around water in diving, and it's easy to lose your bearings in the ocean if your diving goggles are steamed up. It's a similar story for bikers in the rain. Spit can help with spontaneous clouding, but if you want to be on the safe side before a rain tour, spray your goggles with some anti-fog spray from Cressi. Allow to work in briefly, wipe off and you're done.
Price: RRP 60 ml costs approx. 7 euros >> e.g. available at Amazon
Sealskinz Dragon Eye
Wet and cold are the two attributes that hands need the least when biking. Warm and dry are more important. That's exactly what the waterproof gloves from Sealskinz do. Despite the additional layer, they provide a secure grip on the handlebars and you can still operate your smartphone. Great: the inner lining doesn't slip out of the glove when you take it off.
Price: RRP 47,50 Euro
Shimano S1000X H20
Getting in is usually the biggest challenge with overshoes. Shimano solves this problem with a wide Velcro strap on the sole. This means that even high-profile shoes don't constantly get stuck on the PU-coated outer skin. The S1000X is closed with a waterproof zip and Velcro on the back. On cool days, the feet are additionally warmed by the thin fleece lining.
