Scots simply know how to deal with bad weather. They prove this with the MT500 softshell trousers.

Thanks to its loose cut, it can be perfectly combined with cycling shorts of any length and used in temperatures from around ten degrees to well below zero. If you close the zip at the ankles, it fits snugly and doesn't flap in the wind. The width of the waistband can be adjusted using sturdy Velcro straps, and two ventilation slits on the thighs cool the legs when the sun does shine through. Otherwise, the Scots have thought of everything: there are two zip pockets, reflectors for the way home in the dark and taped seams in the seat area. The MT500 effectively blocks mud splashes and a little drizzle. In real rain, however, it does get wet quickly, partly because the trousers slip down slightly at the rear.

The robust trousers have already been through two winters, and it looks like they're far from finished. By the way: the MT500 also cuts a fine figure on cross-country skis.
