With the Ride Miles Bib Circle, Gonso aims to deliver premium trousers for endurance athletes. Do the expensive cycling trousers with their elaborate cut live up to their claim? Our test provides the answer.

The addition Circle in the name of the Gonso Ride Miles Bib is not intended to indicate that you can ride in circles for a particularly long time with the new Bib Short, but that the shorts were developed with the circular economy in mind. Only single-origin materials are used, which can be easily recycled and returned to the material cycle at the end of the Bib Short's life.

Elaborate construction, few seams

But the German brand also wants to reach a new level with the Ride Miles Bib Circle. As discreet as the look is, the design of the trousers is just as elaborate. The Gonso has just a single seam on each side of the legs and yet the trousers fit snugly on the body thanks to the tight yet highly elasticated material. The wide, seamless straps are pulled particularly far towards the buttocks to keep the padding as securely in place as possible. A mesh panel at the back also ensures a good, airy fit.

The leg cuffs also have no seams at all and are generously coated with silicone on the inside, which should ensure a good fit when pedalling. By the way: The Ride Miles Bib Circle is available in a standard version and a long version with legs that are four centimetres longer, which we tested here.

Almost perfect fit

All this effort pays off, because the Gonso fits like a second skin. You can't feel the seams at any point and the feel of the material itself is great. Even when pedalling, the leg cuffs stay neatly in place. The straps sit comfortably and reliably prevent the padding from slipping under the bum.

Which brings us to perhaps the only real shortcoming of the Gonso: the seat pad. This is actually well designed, with a channel that relieves the perineal area and consistent padding throughout. This means that the sit bones always lie neatly on the padding. For really long rides, however, the density of the padding is a little low and the seat sags a little.

Evaluation & conclusion

The Gonso is extremely comfortable to wear, unfortunately the padding might be a bit too soft for really long ridesPhoto: Stefan FreyThe Gonso is extremely comfortable to wear, unfortunately the padding might be a bit too soft for really long rides

Anyone who has been familiar with the Gonso brand for a while will be pleasantly surprised by these very elaborately cut trousers with their pleasantly supportive material and seamless but somewhat tight-fitting straps. The excellent leg ends are pressure-free on the thighs without a noticeable silicone waistband. Only the comfortable padding with a channel in the perineal area could offer a little more support for long distances.
