When you slip into the first mountain bike-specific bib shorts from Assos, you briefly wrinkle your nose. During the ride, however, the test impression of the T.Rally shorts changes very favourably.

The extremely wide straps, the low waistband and the tight fit feel quite unusual at first. However, the longer the ride lasts, the more the enthusiasm grows: the trousers fit perfectly, the seat pad caresses your bum and the extremely robust compression material seems made to last. Oval, optional soft protectors are designed to protect the hip bones in the event of a fall. We didn't find the pads very helpful and rode the trousers bare. The price is high, even by Swiss standards.

For technical descents, he is prepared to tackle almost any ascent - under his own steam. As an accessories specialist, he is the first port of call for questions about equipment and add-on parts, while as head of copywriting he sweeps the language crumbs from the pages of the BIKE print editions.
