Sportful sent the Aqua Light Jacket pair to the start of the comparison test. With a price of 100 euros, the Italian rain protection is the second cheapest after the Gobik (90 euros) and with weights of 86 and 77 grams (men's and women's model) the lightest rain jacket with the smallest pack size in the test. We were curious to see how the robust jacket would fare in our comparison with the competition.
According to the manufacturer, the Sportful Aqua Light Jacket is an ultra-lightweight rain cover for ambitious cyclists that weighs less than 100 grams and can be stowed away particularly compactly. The semi-transparent material should not only look discreet, but also provide reliable protection even in heavy rain thanks to its waterproof properties and taped seams. The fabric is elasticated and should adapt perfectly to the shape of the body, ensuring that the jacket fits perfectly even in a sporty riding position. According to the manufacturer, the vapour permeability has been specifically optimised to prevent moisture build-up during intense exertion. A double-sided zip should not only facilitate air exchange, but also allow access to the jersey pockets. The Aqua Light Jacket is aimed at riders who want to minimise weight and maximise function in changeable weather conditions without compromising on comfort and protection.
At 86 grams in size M and 77 grams in size S, the Sportful Aqua Light Jacket is the lightest and second cheapest jacket in our rain jacket test
Thanks to the elasticated material, the jacket fits comfortably on the body and remains quiet even in the wind. However, you immediately feel sweaty when you put it on. The jacket is small and short overall, so a size larger is advisable. The sleeves are short, the collar is flat and the back is too short. As an emergency jacket, the Sportful is convincing: it is extremely light and fits in any jersey pocket. In terms of weather protection, it is waterproof, but the impregnation wears off after the first wash - drops hardly roll off. One clear shortcoming: there is no reflective material for visibility in low light conditions.
