Pleasantly light, maximally breathable and still waterproof? Can the GripGrab PACR Waterproof Lightweight Jacket fulfil its promises on paper in our practical test? We put the lightweight rain jacket from the Danish manufacturer through its paces in our BIKE test.

Topics in this article

According to the manufacturer, the GripGrab PACR Waterproof Lightweight Jacket is a feather-light protective shield against wind and rain that can be folded up so compactly that it can easily be stowed in a jersey pocket. The material used should be completely waterproof and, with a water column of 10,000 mm and a breathability of 40,000 g/m²/24h, offer reliable protection even in heavy rain and splashing water without moisture building up inside. Tight-fitting cuffs, an elasticated hem with silicone trim and a high-cut, mesh-lined collar are designed to ensure a comfortable fit and prevent water from penetrating, according to the manufacturer. The waterproof two-way zip from YKK® is designed not only to regulate ventilation, but also to allow access to jersey pockets underneath. Reflective elements on the back and sleeves are designed to increase visibility in low light conditions and improve road safety.

Test summary of the GripGrab Pacr Waterproof Lightweight Jacket

Conclusion: The jacket looks robust, feels a little rough on the skin at first and becomes slightly sweaty over time. The cut shows weaknesses in a sporty cycling position: The back section rides up and the material puffs out at the chest and stomach. The Danish manufacturer's model impresses with very good weather protection - it remains waterproof and rain drips off almost residue-free. The features are also excellent: A fluffy fabric insert in the collar, asymmetric flaps over the wrists and plenty of reflective material create comfort and visibility. The handling is less convincing: the zip cannot be operated with one hand due to the puffy front area, and the pack size is somewhat bulky despite the normal weight.
