The Swedish manufacturer Poc charges a whole 500 euros for its luxury rain jacket The Supreme Rain Jacket. This is supposed to be particularly light and maximise breathability. We were curious to see whether The Supreme Rain Jacket could also convince us in terms of rain protection and comfort and put the luxury jacket to the test.

Poc sent us the lightweight model The Supreme Rain Jacket with a unisex fit for our comparison test. It costs an impressive €500 and is therefore €200 more expensive than the second most expensive model from Scott.

According to the manufacturer, the new rain jacket from Poc is the lightest the company has ever developed for cyclists. With a weight of just 89 grams in size M and a highly developed 3-layer fabric of just 51 g/m², it is designed to offer reliable protection even in heavy rain. The 20,000 mm water column and fully taped seams should ensure that no water penetrates even in heavy weather conditions.

At the same time, the vapour permeability with a value of up to 50,000 g/m²/24h should ensure that moisture can effectively escape from the inside. A fluorocarbon-free DWR treatment is designed to protect the environment and further improve the water-repellent properties.

According to the manufacturer, the full-length front zip is equipped with an innovative waterproof tape that has been integrated directly into the zip teeth and is designed to provide maximum flexibility with minimum weight. The jacket can be folded into a hidden pocket on the collar and should therefore fit easily into any jersey pocket.

The extremely thin membrane feels pleasant on the skin at first, but becomes slightly sweaty over time. In the wind, the very light jacket impresses with its quiet background noise. In a sporty cycling position, it sits too loosely at the front and lacks length at the back - the bum remains partially uncovered. Poc justifies the high price of 500 euros with the special material, which enables a weight of less than 100 grams. The jacket achieved top marks in the Suter and spray test - even after washing. The waistband and sleeves are cut long and the wrists are well protected. However, the collar does not seal tightly at the neck. Despite the premium price, the features are simple and leave a lot to be desired.
