After wet comes cold, especially when cycling. During breaks or long descents, a sweaty bike jersey makes you freeze faster. A wind jacket protects us from the wind chill effect. We tested 12 models, from super light to extra weatherproof. In this article, we present the Cube Teamline wind jacket, which scores points for its low weight and small pack size.

Resting sweaty on a draughty summit? Or cooling down on the long descent of a marathon? A wind jacket has saved the day of many a biker who underestimated the wind chill effect. Whether super light or with extra weather protection - we have tested twelve models and show you which one can withstand even the strongest gusts. In this article, we present the Cube Teamline wind jacket.

Cube Teamline wind jacket - Features/ Pack size

Cube has developed the Teamline Wind Jacket a lightweight model for racers or bikers who value minimum weight at the start. The jacket weighs in at just 98 grams. It goes without saying that you shouldn't expect a miracle of features here. In addition to the classic narrow stretch cuffs, there is a comfortably lined collar. However, there is no cover for the zip. A mesh strip on the upper back ensures ventilation. There are no pockets, no access to the jersey and no pouch.

Weather protection

Apart from the small strip on the back, the Cube provides excellent protection from the wind. The lightweight jacket also performs well in the spray test. You can even survive a shower reasonably dry in the Teamline wind jacket, as the inside has a water-repellent coating.

Wearing comfort

Thanks to the high stretch content, the Cube is quite comfortable to wear. However, they enclose the body almost completely windproof, so it can quickly become sweaty on climbs. Sweat then runs down the arms in particular. The cut of the jacket could be trimmed even more consistently to the cycling position. The back is kept quite short and the material folds at the stomach. The jacket tightens on the shoulders and back, especially when riding hard.

Handling

The Cube windbreaker is particularly bad for handling. There is no pocket here, nor is there any access to the jersey pockets. We would have liked a small pannier for stowing. However, the zip works well and can be opened with one hand while riding.

Conclusion: Cube Teamline windbreaker

The Teamline scores with its low weight and small pack size. The weather protection is also excellent. The jacket blocks the wind almost completely and keeps you dry even in short showers. However, this comes at the expense of the climate. There are few evaporation zones and the material quickly becomes sweaty. The fit is also not ideal: short sleeves and, despite the elasticated material, it is tight under the shoulders and armpits. Comfortable collar, no storage space.
