Cycling shorts are masters of camouflage. Usually plain black and always endeavouring not to stand out. How much know-how is hidden in these tight biker shorts usually only becomes clear at second glance. Because at the end of the tour, the right seat pad decides whether you get out of the saddle grinning broadly or with a sore bum. When you try them on in front of the mirror, one pair of trousers usually looks like the other. They only reveal their true qualities once you're mounted. At the latest when the trouser legs pinch your thighs, the padding between your bum and saddle starts to float, or the straps rub on your shoulders and chest, you know you've chosen the wrong companion. The best trousers are those that are as unobtrusive as possible when cycling. To achieve this, the trouser fabric must have sufficient stretch without being constricting. Ideally, the trouser leg cuffs should be wide and elasticated enough to hug the thigh without cutting in or pinching. The braces should fit smoothly and hold the trousers in place, but must not cut into or chafe the shoulders or chest.
We evaluated the trousers in a practical test with several riders in terms of quality, features, padding and comfort.
