The bike world is breaking down into micro-cosmos. What used to be mountain biking is now all-mountain, enduro, cross-country or marathon. Discussions about the right amount of suspension travel, the perfect tyre width or which rubber compound is gentler on the calves as you roll down the trails heat things up. But when it comes to the question of what bikers wear underneath, everyone suddenly agrees. The good old bib shorts with seat pad are clearly visible on racers or hidden under casual freeride shorts. When it comes to riding comfort, there is nothing that can replace a good pair of cycling shorts: no comfort saddle and no mileage-eating bib shorts.
We tested a total of 26 models for men and women in two price categories. Inexpensive trousers with a price limit of 75 euros should show whether they can keep up with the expensive high-end products with prices of up to 229 euros. For all those who find tight sausage skins too uncool, we show you twelve alternatives for the top end.
