Apart from the low frame stiffness, the Top Fuel impresses with its excellent suspension and harmonious riding characteristics.

If you only look at the weight, the Top Fuel is in the golden mean in this comparison. The overall weight is right, the frame weight is right and the wheels are right too. However, there are two outliers where the US giant's bike stands out. Firstly: the best suspension efficiency, which is characterised by a sensitive response to small bumps and plenty of reserves for rough terrain, as well as no unnecessary bobbing. "The remote lever for the shock is absolutely unnecessary on the Trek", confirmed world champion Lakata and chose the Top Fuel as his suspension favourite. In addition, the switchable shock platform is barely noticeable and is miles away from a complete lockout. However, the second outlier - the noticeably low stiffness of 49.63 Nm/° - costs the Top Fuel valuable points and thus the test rating of "super". The riding position is very relaxed due to the smallest frame in the test. Nevertheless, you get a lot of pressure on the front wheel on steep climbs. The two remote levers for the fork and shock make the cockpit feel overloaded with an unergonomic handlebar crank. Just like Specialized, Trek only uses 140 mm brake discs on the rear wheel.

ConclusionExcept for the low frame stiffness, the Top Fuel impresses with an excellent chassis and harmonious riding characteristics.

+ Excellent chassis

+ Good warranty service

- Low rigidity

- Superfluous. Damper remote

The damper remote is doubly superfluous. 1. the platform is barely noticeable. 2. the rear end doesn't bob anyway.Photo: Unbekannt The damper remote is doubly superfluous. 1. the platform is barely noticeable. 2. the rear end doesn't bob anyway.bike/M3990839Photo: Unbekannt
