120 millimetres of travel on the fork, one centimetre more travel at the rear and a dropper post: according to Cube, that's enough to turn the AMS race bike into a down-country bike. Is that enough? We investigated the question.

However, there is no trace of this transformation in the riding position. The combination of a 60 mm stem, long top tube and slack seat angle allows the rider to sit stretched out. Racers love this riding position. However, if you are looking for more comfort on more leisurely tours, you should choose a frame size smaller on the Cube AMS One11. Undulating trails and long climbs are at the top of the Cube's specification. Thanks to the 445 millimetre chainstays, the front wheel stays in contact with the ground even on steep ramps without active physical effort. The Maxxis Forkaster tyres roll well, and the firm rear triangle converts the legwork into propulsion largely without loss, even when open.

Nevertheless, to emphasise the sporty character of the Cube AMS One11 we would have liked a handlebar remote with lockout function for the rear. To eliminate the last drive influences, you have to release the fixed grip on the handlebars to reach the platform. A complete lockout is missing. Downhill, the long rear end and slack steering angle give you a lot of confidence at high speeds. On twisty trails, however, the stretched riding position is limiting. The limited range of movement makes balancing movements and technical manoeuvres difficult. The Cube AMS One11 Despite the down-country modification, the bike looks more like a classic race bike. The cheap Rockshox Recon fork doesn't really fit into the picture considering the price.

Conclusion from Louis Krauss, BIKE tester:

"The Cube AMS One11 Pro wants to be one of the more fun-orientated down-country bikes, but scores more on pedal-intensive tours than on demanding terrain. Racers are bothered by the high weight and the lack of a remote for the suspension."
