Stevens gives the Jura a carbon frame
The Stevens Jura with 29-inch wheels and 120 millimetres of travel has been given a lightweight carbon frame for 2017.

It's about time - the well-known Jura marathon fully is finally available in a lightweight carbon version. At the BIKE Festival in Riva, we were able to take a first look at the completely newly developed frame. The frame should weigh 2050 grams (without shock, of course). Stevens is therefore aiming for a complete weight of less than 11 kilos for an 18-inch model.

The geometry is based on the aluminium version, i.e. 68.5 degree head angle, 73.6 degree seat angle and 445 millimetre short chainstays. The suspension travel has also remained the same at 120 millimetres. Four equipment variants will be available at the start of sales. Stevens will equip the top model with a complete Shimano XTR Di2 and Fox components with Kashima coating. The prices have not yet been finalised, but there will probably be a six at the beginning. For a clean look, the battery has been integrated into the frame directly behind the bottom bracket - a clever solution because it is easily accessible.

However, we find the next most affordable version particularly exciting. It will be equipped with the brand new XT Di2 and will therefore be able to offer electronic shifting at a moderate price. Stevens is also fitting a lightweight dropper post here, which should reduce the seconds on the descent, especially on difficult marathon routes. As with the XT Di2, a model with classic XT will also be available.

Another special feature is that Stevens builds the smallest size, 16 inches, with the smaller 27.5-inch wheels. The large wheels are only available from frame size 18 Zill. A flat-mount brake mount for 180 mm discs and Boost compatibility round off the package.
