CONCLUSION: Stevens charges an unusually high price for the top model, but it doesn't need to hide from the leaders. Top marathon racer!

When Stevens usually presents the aggressively priced models in a test, this time everything is different: "Fluent Carbon Team XTR Premium" is the name of the absolute top model from the Hamburg-based company, which is on a par with the competition at a price of 4,999 euros. Nothing is missing, the specification can be described as perfect: Lightweight wheels with grippy tyres, Shimano's "XTR" with "Shadow" rear derailleur, the Ritchey cockpit is a success. In terms of frame weight, the developers have not yet reached their self-imposed target. Our scales show 2,400 grams for the bare frame - the aim is to achieve 2,150 grams. At the moment, the carbon technology only means a lead of 250 grams over the aluminium counterpart (BIKE 1/07). In the stiffness measurement, the carbon frame has similarly good values as the aluminium model and scores full points. The closed cable routing, the plate to prevent chain jamming and the quick-release saddle are a pleasure in tough use. Like some other competitors, the "Fluent" suspension was developed to minimise pedal kickback. On the other hand, it has a tendency to bob, which is more noticeable than with mini suspension travel due to the long suspension travel. One test report describes the riding behaviour of the "Fluent" as "perfect riding position, sensitive, secure feeling". You feel comfortable straight away, completely safe on downhill sections and trust the bike for long-distance adventures in difficult terrain.
