The Epic Comp enters the new season almost unchanged. The frame is the same, the simple equipment is almost identical and so the total weight of a hefty 12.5 kilos remains the same. Only the Brain shock with automatic lockout, familiar since 2003, has been fine-tuned in co-operation with Fox and worked on our test bike without any hitches - with barely perceptible transitions from open to lockout - and with a decent absorption capacity. Apart from the high weight with heavy wheels, Sauser's aluminium offshoot climbs convincingly despite the relaxed riding position. Downhill, the wide handlebars and low bottom bracket ensure good control.
ConclusionSlightly overweight marathon fully with a relaxed riding position and favourable equipment.
