Are you already in shape for your season highlight? Did you finish the first training races well? Is the data from the performance test as you had hoped? Then the Cirex 29 speaks your language.

The addition Pro stands for one of the four equipment variants, or to be precise, for a base price of 3899 euros. The DT Swiss XM 1501 Spline wheels were added to the test bike, a good decision in terms of weight (€ 380 surcharge). Regardless of which spec you choose, you get a great full carbon frame with compact, manoeuvrable geometry and the lowest weight in this comparison group. The tube shapes are just as impressive as the handling. We voted the Cirex the fastest bike in the fight against gravity (with the Centurion), but also gave it the red lantern in the downhill. The firm sports suspension (especially the fork) shakes your arms.

ConclusionReady for the season's highlight: The Simplon Cirex impresses with its forward momentum. A first-class race bike with a clear goal.

PLUS Very light, beautiful frame, responsive handling, three useful adjustment modes on the shock, triple gearing
MINUS Tight to stubborn fork

The alternative Simplon offers four basic configurations plus various optional extras. The Cirex starts at 3599 euros, for the top model you can spend almost 6000 euros. Beautiful alternative in blue/black.

100-millimetre forks such as those on the Scott or Simplon are strongly aimed at very sporty use. The Simplon Cirex 29 shows just how much of an impact lightweight wheels have on handling, and the extra charge for the DT Swiss wheels in the configurator is well worth it. Great acceleration! The shock on the Simplon Cirex can be ridden with 30 per cent sag. Handling and geometry could do with a 120 mm fork.
