For over half a year, Canyon team riders have been riding prototypes of the new Lux CF fullys on the race tracks. Now Canyon is showing off the new race bike and revealing all the details. The highlight of the new marathon full-suspension bike with 29er tyres is the rear suspension, which is designed to be largely drive-neutral with completely revised kinematics.
From the Frame design of the predecessor (with upright shock) has also been moved away from. Because the shock is now positioned horizontally under the top tube, there is room for two large water bottles in the frame - even with frame size S, emphasised Canyon during the presentation. As a further special feature, Canyon has installed a retractable seatpost in six of the seven standard bikes. This should also make technical descents enjoyable for marathon riders and extend the range of use beyond the race track.
The geometry of the new full-suspension bike is based on proven values. This is because all frame dimensions and angles are strongly orientated towards the in-house Canyon Exceed carbon hardtail, which is not only used under the bum of Alban Lakatabut also for some BIKE tests was successful.
As with the Exceed hardtail, the new full carbon frame of the Lux' will be available in two different qualities. The more affordable bikes from € 2999 to € 4599 will be fitted with the SL frame, which weighs around 250 grams more and has simpler carbon fibres. The two top models for 5599 and 5999 euros will use higher quality carbon fibre mats, and the lightweight SLX frame will weigh just 1777 grams (in size L, without shock).
In addition to the carbon fibres, the suspension forks of the SL and SLX models also differ. The expensive models use the Fox 32 Step Cast fork and 100 millimetres of suspension travel are fully focused on lightweight construction and use on the race track, while all SL models are sent to the customer with 110 millimetre forks. Like the retractable seat post, the longer fork is also intended to make the race bike fit for more demanding single trails. The steering angle of the SL models is slackened by half a degree to 69.5 degrees thanks to the longer fork. All models are now available in four frame sizes from S to XL. The Lux CF SLX is also available as a frameset for 2499 euros.
We have already tested the new Canyon Lux CF exclusively and extensively. You'll find all the lab results and the test results in BIKE 8/18, on newsstands from 3 July.
