The black anodised Dr. Z impresses with its tidy look with internally routed cables and details such as a stiff BB30 bottom bracket shell. The optional equipment is appealing, but in combination with the heavy wheels it makes for the highest total weight in the test. With a sporty riding position and not too slack a seat angle, the Rose climbs confidently and remains stable even with the shock open. However, it doesn't have the most sensitive rear suspension in the test. For light riders under 70kg, the rebound could also work a little faster. Downhill, the wide handlebars and the perfectly modulated Juicy Seven brakes are very pleasing.
CONCLUSION: Marathon bike with balanced handling but high overall weight, which scores with good equipment and nice details.
TUNING TIP: lighter tyres and tubes.
