The external values are just one thing: 11.2 kilograms (lightest bike), Fox suspension elements, XT drivetrain and The-One brakes position the highest quality of the three Vortex models in the top third of the test field. The riding position is sporty and rather low at the front due to the short head tube (120 millimetres). The riding impressions are different: If you put a lot of watts on the chain when pedalling uphill, you immediately feel the shock compress. The narrow cockpit (580 mm handlebars) and the rather nervous steering robbed us of fun and confidence on the twisty and technical part of our test ride. For this reason, the brute The-One brakes with large 180 mm discs and Fox fork and shock didn't really reach their limits. The narrow 2.1 tyres underline the impression: cross-country racer.
