Apart from a few detailed improvements, the X-Control has already been around for a few years. But why not? At 2380 grams, the elegant Scandium frame is one of the lighter ones in the test field and takes first place in the STW value. As has been typical for Lapierre since 2001, the X-Control uses a VPP rear triangle with a virtual pivot point. With the help of the SAG indicator for setting the optimum shock pressure, the rear triangle is adjusted to a balance point and held in this position during the ride by the chain hoist.
In practice, this principle manifests itself in an extremely smooth rear end as long as you are riding on the middle or large chainring. Even hard pedalling leaves the sensitive rear triangle completely calm. On the small chainring, on the other hand, there is a noticeable pedal kickback when the suspension is working. The 120 mm Fox fork significantly extends the range of use of the fast French bike. Although the rear suspension has less travel, the chassis works together harmoniously. For 3000 euros, the equipment mix from SLX to XTR is absolutely fine.
CONCLUSION: Very comfortable marathon fully that also cuts a very good figure on sporty tours.
TUNING TIP: fit tyres with better grip.
