CONCLUSION: beautiful, unusual look, lots of fun downhill, but not a real racer.
"It's amazing what a 120 mm fork can do", summarises the test team on the Lapierre "X-Control". With its capable suspension, the bike is one of our favourites in the downhill category. Uphill, the high front end and slack seat angle make work more difficult, the front wheel climbs early. Sensitive riders will notice the influence of the "VPP" system on the drivetrain, especially in the small chainring. If you want to combine marathons with downhill fun, this is the right bike for you; the long fork extends the range of use towards all-mountain. However, the narrow tyres and small discs do not suit this.
