With the X-Control 29, Lapierre presents a mid-season model for fans of large wheels. Two aluminium versions with 100 millimetres of travel are now available in the shops.

The 26-inch Lapierre X-Control has been rolling down the trails for some time now. The X-Control 29 is brand new and already available on the market. 100 millimetres of travel at the front and rear are designed to smooth out marathon trails in particular. Equipped with thru-axles at the front and rear (15 mm/12 mm), it should be able to steer stably around bends. Lapierre has dispensed with an articulation at the rear of the aluminium frame and instead relies on flexing seat stays. The 829 model with XT/XTR mix and Fox suspension elements changes hands for 2899 euros. The 628 with SLX/XT components and Rock Shox suspension is priced slightly lower at 2299 euros.

Stefan Frey is from Lower Bavaria and loves the mossy, loamy trails of the Bavarian Forest as much as the rugged rock of the Dolomites. For technical descents, he is prepared to tackle almost any ascent - under his own steam. As an accessories specialist, he is the first port of call for questions about equipment and add-on parts, while as head of copywriting he sweeps the language crumbs from the pages of the BIKE print editions.
