The French company Lapierre has completely revised its XR cross-country fully for 2017: The OST+ suspension system with a virtual pivot point has already proven itself on the all-mountain Zesty and is now set to inspire the kinematics of the race models too. The 100 millimetres of suspension travel should be used in a particularly drive-neutral and effective way.
The geometry has also undergone a complete overhaul: slacker head angle, steeper seat angle, shorter chainstays and longer reach, plus short stems. This is intended to increase safety and trail fun in technical terrain. The Boost standard accepts 29-inch wheels. The weight of the carbon frame is said to be 1800 g (without shock).
The XR will roll off the production line in four different equipment variants, all with Rock Shox suspension. The top model, the XR 929 Ultimate, comes with Sram's new 1x12 Eagle drivetrain, Rock Shox RS-1 fork and Lapierre's e:i-Shock electronic suspension system.
With the Edge+, the French are also sending an all-mountain hardtail in 27.5 plus format onto the trails in 2017. The aluminium frame has short 420 millimetre chainstays and a long reach, making the bike particularly playful to ride. Lapierre relies on the Boost standard and 2.8 inch wide Schwalbe Nobby Nics, with space for tyres up to 3.0 inches. The Edge+ will come in two model variants, both of which rely on 1x11 drivetrains.
