In 2011, KTM replaced its Score marathon fully with the Taser model series. Instead of a four-bar linkage, the Austrians now rely on their so-called PDS rear suspension system with Float-Link. Compared to the sensitive, responsive suspension of the Score, the 105-millimetre rear suspension of the Taser is much firmer. Responsible for this: the Fox RP2 damper in the highest of the three compression stage versions. The sporty, stretched riding position immediately gives you that marathon feeling, the steep angles allow the Taser to climb well without immediately climbing in the front on steep terrain. With the heaviest frame (2830 grams) as a basis, the Taser does not belong to the lightweight construction faction. Downhill, the long chainstays (430 millimetres) ensure a smooth ride. The high compression damping makes it difficult to utilise the full rear travel. Tip: tune it soft!
Conclusion: beautifully shaped hydroformed frame with marathon genes and honest equipment.
+ Elegant frame
+ Marathon geometry
- Heavy frame
- Too much compression (damper)
