The GT is labelled "Marathon", but it's more "All Mountain" inside. The long Fox fork extends the range of use and gives the bike an advantage over the competition, especially downhill. The tyres stick to the rocks, the 67 centimetre wide handlebars sound like downhill sport, but the small discs don't fit. Climbing is comparatively sluggish (shallow angles, rolling resistance), the riding position is comfortable. Overall, the "Marathon 1.0" rides better than the points table shows. The warranty, the paint quality and the poor bottle cage position lose points!
CONCLUSIONLess suitable for chasing seconds, but a lot of driving pleasure in difficult terrain.
TUNING TIP: Replace an uncomfortable saddle.
