CONCLUSION: Top marathon racer with cross-country qualities. A thoroughly successful package at a reasonable price.

Ghost's brand new carbon fibre racing machine undergoes its first real comparison test. What the top model "RT Lector Worldcup" is capable of has already been demonstrated in the comparison of the 10-kilo league (BIKE 11/07). In the competition of series bikes, the Bavarian flagship delivers top values in every category and collects the second most points - at a relatively reasonable price. But let's start at the beginning: the well harmonised 100-millimetre chassis is light and stiff enough. When it comes to the detailed solutions (impact protection on the down tube, anti-chainsuck plate), the developers have thought ahead and these protective measures do justice to the material. The shock rocker is made of carbon, the rear triangle of aluminium. The workmanship is impeccable, creating a beautiful overall picture. All testers felt comfortable in the saddle and got on well with the classically sporty geometry. The bike is manoeuvrable and climbs even the steepest ramps flawlessly. The Fox shock requires a relatively high air pressure and works best in platform mode on the climbs. Downhill, the harmonious, long suspension travel is pleasing, and here too the handling is agile and manoeuvrable. In terms of equipment, Ghost spoils you with a mix of the best parts on the market. Fast wheels, fast tyres, "XTR" groupset with large brake discs, plus carbon add-on parts with Ritchey's "WCS" logo. The only downer: not everyone will find their ideal size in the three frame sizes. Ghost sets a weight limit of 100 kilos for the frame.

CONCLUSIONTop marathon racer with cross-country qualities. A thoroughly successful package at a reasonable price.

TUNING TIP: Tune the shock hard, push the saddle forwards.
