If you need to go fast, the O1E also has the patented R.A.T. rear wheel axle. Another eye-catching feature of the red World Cup speedster is the rear triangle: the two nested rockers on the main pivot spit out 110 millimetres of usable travel. This allows you to iron downhill through berms in a relaxed manner and climb steps without shaky knees. Like a built-in Vmax limiter, however, the Race King tyres slow you down. As with many test bikes, the tyre grip limits the speed downhill. To compensate for the long reach and whip the 10-kilo Fully to the summit, we pushed the saddle far forward. This allows the Focus bike to keep up with the best when sprinting uphill. According to laboratory measurements, the stiffness is at the lower end of the test field. This could be particularly annoying for riders over 80 kilos, especially in combination with the RS-1. But that's when the O1E really comes into its own!
ConclusionAesthetic frame, low weight and fast acceleration. The Focus not only inspires on cross-country courses.
The alternative: For 4700 euros, the Pro version offers the same frame with SID fork and Shimano XT groupset (22 gears). Weight: 11.9 kilos.
