Focus FSL 5.0
The FSL 5.0 from Focus is a classic racer with an independent frame. Unfortunately, it shows little touring potential.

With the FSL, Focus has managed to pack important features such as low frame weight, space for two bottle cages and an easily accessible shock into a unique exterior. Sportily stretched and with a low front end, the Focus is hungry for uphills. Even without a platform, the firm rear suspension remains completely stable when pedalling. The cockpit looks a little antiquated: The narrow 620 mm handlebars limit the controlled downhill fun. The entire frame, including the rocker, is made of carbon and features the latest standards such as BB30 bottom bracket, internally routed cables and exemplary integrated chainsuck plates. On the other hand, there are corresponding compromises in terms of equipment, which level the bike out at an average weight.

Conclusion: classic racer with an independent frame. Little touring potential.

PLUS Lightweight carbon frame, two bottle cages possible
MINUS Narrow handlebars, mediocre equipment

Thanks to its position in the top tube, the platform lever is very easy to reach and a second bottle fits into the frame triangle.Photo: Daniel Simon Thanks to its position in the top tube, the platform lever is very easy to reach and a second bottle fits into the frame triangle.
