You can call the Fat an equipment miracle with impunity: Shimano "XTR" cranks and groupset, super-light American Classic wheels, plus Ritchey "WCS" components. More is hardly possible for 2,174 euros. However, the frame, suspension and geometry are not impressive. The frame is Asian bar stock, comes with cantilever sockets despite discs, has too shallow angles and a very short wheelbase. The rear-heavy handling manifests itself in rearing uphill, and even the low weight doesn't help. Problem: If you fit a straight seat post, this shortens the riding position even further. Good: Six colours to choose from.
CONCLUSIONLuxury equipment and extremely low weight ensure a "very good" score. However, the overall package is unbalanced.
