With a YouTube community of around four million fans, the Fabio Wibmer is undoubtedly one of the stars of the mountain bike scene. The young Austrian inspires his community around the globe with adventurous clips. The most recently published third part of his "Urban Freeride Lives" series alone recorded more than ten million views. Now Wibmer is changing his bike sponsor. Instead of Specialized bikes, he will be riding Canyon bikes in future.
"He is an extraordinary character whose ease impresses me, packing all the work behind his projects into maximum fun on the bike - it is precisely this spirit that inspires so many, including me! I'm looking forward to our close collaboration in the development of new products, such as a trials bike designed especially for him, but also to pushing our bikes forward in the entire gravity sector," says founder and CEO Roman Arnold.
In addition to Wibmer, Canyon has been able to attract other high-calibre racers for 2020. For example, the New Zealand World Cup winner Sam Gaze (24) has switched to Mathieu van der Poel's team. The Dutch team, for which the German Ronja Eibl also rides, is no longer called Corendon Circus but Alpecin-Fenix from this season onwards. British downhiller Tahnée Seagrave will also be riding Canyon bikes in 2020. The 25-year-old has previously competed in the Downhill World Cup on Transition bikes, taking silver at the 2019 World Championships and winning the World Cup in Maribor. Seagrave's switch has not yet been officially confirmed by Canyon, but the British rider has already given the downhill station 10 out of 10 points in a Facebook video.
