"Very balanced" was the verdict after the stage on the Cube. The sporty riding position is pleasing, the very wide handlebars are no disadvantage, the light wheels accelerate quickly. A look at the measured values shows a low frame weight with high stiffness. The sweeping Fox lever on the handlebar operates the CTD system of the fork and shock simultaneously. A clever thing, but we would like a firmer climb setting. When pedalling hard, as required for intermediate sprints, the suspension pumps strongly. The low bottom bracket means you hit the pedals early. The Magura brakes showed no fading even after 1000 metres of descent from the Ehrenbachhöhe - in contrast to most other models. The manoeuvrability was also impressive on the Fleckalm trail, which is specially designed for bikers. The bike is easy to control. The joker on the Cube is the second bottle cage position - a unique selling point.
ConclusionThe Cube can do everything except CC World Cup. It is equally suitable for marathons and tours. It is less aggressive than the Cannondale and covers a wider range of use.
PLUS Two bottle cages possible, up to 23'' frame size, stable brakes, wide range of use
MINUS Only three years warranty, low bottom bracket
The alternative: With its Teamline look, the AMS 100 SHPC Race is almost indistinguishable from the model we tested. With a Shimano XT groupset, carbon frame and Fox suspension, it costs 3199 euros and is said to weigh 11.65 kg.
