In terms of handling, the "Backfire LRS" is more of a tourer than a racer. However, the rear triangle could do with more comfort.

Centurion stands for individuality. It is not only with the hydro-moulded "Backfire LRS" that customers are free to choose their own equipment. Whether wheels, suspension elements or components - the choice is yours. There was hardly any potential for optimisation in the harmonious composition of our test bike. Magura "Durin" fork with handlebar lockout, lightweight Mavic "Crossmax SLR" wheels and SRAM's top "X.0" drivetrain. What more do racers need?

In contrast to the race-orientated equipment, the riding position is touring-oriented and therefore fully suitable for long distances. In addition, the sufficiently wide handlebars ensure optimum control on technical descents. The 69 mm steering angle ensures a smooth ride, even in fast sections. While the handling of the "Backfire LRS" gives it good downhill marks, the rear suspension performance is a bit of a drag on the brakes. The response behaviour and absorption capacity of the 90 millimetre suspension travel lack a little comfort. In addition, maximum compression is accompanied by a grinding noise because the tyre knobs rub minimally on the rocker. To get more pressure on the front wheel when climbing, the spacers under the stem should be removed and the saddle should be pushed slightly forwards due to the slack seat angle. Absolutely positive: there is space for two bottles in the frame triangle.

CONCLUSIONS: In terms of handling, the "Backfire LRS" is more of a tourer than a racer. However, the rear triangle could do with more comfort.

TUNING TIP: For better climbing characteristics: Push the saddle forwards and remove the spacers.
