BH has the AtomX Carbon 2022 completely redesigned to make it stiffer, lighter and slimmer. It now has 140 or 160 millimetre spring travel and, as before, via a removable 720 Wh battery and the Brose Drive S Mag with a powerful 90 Nm torque. The Spaniards are sticking to the unusual design of the main frame, and the battery can still be pulled upwards out of the down tube. The advantage of this design is that the lock is well protected from dirt and water.
The BH AtomX at a glance
Despite a similar look to the Predecessor the main frame is now to be 20 per cent stiffer the head tube area by as much as 80 per cent. Despite this, the manufacturer claims a frame weight of just 2350 grammes without battery. That would be a top value for an e-MTB. In addition to weight and stiffness, the developers focussed on integration. Not only have the bolts of the rear triangle been hidden, but the cables now also disappear elegantly into the headset. However, this means more work for DIY mechanics and mechanics. The seat clamp is integrated into the frame in the style of a racing bike and is therefore also barely visible.
The new frame and rear triangle design is not only intended to make the bike stiffer, but unlike the Predecessor There is also space for a water bottle. The geoemtry has also been modernised. With a longer reach, slacker head angle, shorter chainstays and steeper seat angle, the AtomX Carbon should be equipped for downhill riding and still be comfortable to pedal uphill.
The necessary propulsion is provided by the Brose Drive S Mag motor. With up to 90 Newton metres torque and high wattage, it is one of the most powerful drives on the market. In combination with the 720 Wh battery, this promises power and range. The support modes can be customised via the BH iConnect app. BH has deliberately dispensed with a display. Only three buttons with small LEDs indicate the support mode. If you prefer a screen, you can pair the system with Garmin devices.
There are two versions of the AtomX Carbon with a suspension travel of either 140 or 160 millimetres. Both come with the revised Split Pivot rear triangle, which is designed to combine efficient propulsion with sensitive suspension performance. 5 models of the BH AtomX Carbon will be available, prices start at 6699 Euro. All offer the option of colour matching through the BH Unique programme.
