A simple calculation that works: Canyon compensates for the missing two inches on the wheels with suspension travel on the only 26-inch bike in the test field (!). In extreme cases, the stiff carbon fibre frame releases 120 crisp, firm millimetres. Enough for the technical challenges of a Transalp, even on the eighth day. On steep gravel, the rear wheel loses grip faster than the 29er. Those who know it, stay in the saddle. The riding position on the Canyon is perfectly sporty, the Ritchey handlebars are nice and wide. With two XLoc levers, it's even worth locking up for pedalling, and the twist shifters scurry through the gears at lightning speed. The DT carbon wheels guarantee light-footed acceleration with just a few powerful pedals. And if you do run out of power on the Idjoch or Mortirolo, the small blade of the triple cranks helps out. Only the Tune carbon saddle showed slight wear after two days of rain and mud.
Conclusiontuned and optimised with brains. Lightweight, lightning fast and with enough reserves for eight days of Transalp racing. Our first choice!
