The brand-new Canyon "Lux" already smashes the competition on the scales: 9.75 kilos without pedals - that marks the record in the history of BIKE comparison tests! Admittedly, the size M bike is smaller than the competition. Nevertheless, the 1,820 grams are a top value for the new frame, which also boasts very good stiffness. Real racers will cheer at the character of this bike: "At last it's back, a race bike in its purest form!". Those looking for comfort should keep their hands off the "Lux". Those who want to go full throttle and only need the rear suspension as a safety reserve are welcome. The aggressive riding position, the fork lockout on the handlebars and the narrow cockpit with bar ends - a real fighter. The Fumic brothers obviously had a say in the design of the bike. The suspension has no pedal kickback, but has a strong tendency to bob (dipping under chain pull). This can only be compensated for with high shock pressure, i.e. zero negative suspension travel. Once you have overcome the resulting breakaway torque, the rear offers plenty of travel to match the fork. Sensitivity falls by the wayside as a result. When it comes to the componentry, Canyon reaches deep into the tuning shelf. Tune quick release, Syntace cockpit and a set of narrow Schwalbe "Furious Fred" and "Racing Ralph" tyres. However, we preferred to ride the bike with the optional set of "Nobby Nic" tyres.
CONCLUSIONIf you're looking for a race rocket, you'll find it at Canyon. Classic racing characteristics, top equipment, good price.
TUNING TIP: Tyre choice as desired: Fit Schwalbe "Nobby Nic" tyres!
