It always takes a while to go from prototype to series production: the Lux CF has been successfully doing the rounds of the racing circuit for almost a year now and has already won numerous victories under Alban Lakata and Robert Mennen. Bringing the prototype to series production with the racing team - expectations are high and they are not disappointed. The full carbon frame dispenses with the rear hinge, is carefully crafted, has a stiff ride and is in the middle of the group in terms of weight. The Lux CF is aimed at marathons, the geometry is much more suitable for touring than that of Specialized or Felt, the double gearing fits in just as well as the comfortable saddle, which complements the pleasant riding position. Here too, the suspension can be locked out simultaneously at the front and rear with a click of the thumb, and when ridden open, the Lux offers a sensitive rear end and sufficient travel for rough terrain. Thanks to its good control, the bike is one of the fastest downhill bikes. Lightweight carbon wheels promote acceleration.
One more word about the transmission: The product managers have chosen the double setup of the XX groupset to suit the area of application. However, it is more complicated to operate than the XX1. Those who can cope with a single crank will have more fun with it.
Conclusion The target group for the Lux CF isn't as narrow as that of its competitors, but is aimed at marathons and sporty tours. Fast bike, reasonable price.
PLUS Steering stop damper in the headset, quick-release saddle, reasonable frame price, uncomplicated riding behaviour
MINUS Rear screw axle, clips for cable guide
The alternative
Same frame, same suspension, but Sram X0 instead of Sram XX and 550 grams heavier: The Lux CF 9.9 also looks similar to the top Team model, but only costs 3899 euros. Reasonable racer!
