The first 29er fully from BMC hits the mark and is a good choice. The frame shape looks classic, the successful geometry with the short head tube ensures a comfortable riding position. It is surprising, however, that the frame height stops at 51 cm. Really tall riders are locked out. The Speedfox is the heaviest bike in the group, due to the frame (800 grams heavier than the Cannondale), the fork and the wheels. The SAG display helps with the suspension set-up; we set the air pressure to the "just before soft" position. Subjectively, the VPP rear suspension in the BMC 29er has less influence on the drive than the 26er version, and you can manage uphill without a platform. You feel comfortable on the long climbs of the Lake Garda tour, the Speedfox feels more relaxed than the racers from Cannondale or Rocky Mountain. On technical downhill trails, the BMC feels more confident and you have a better overview and control. However, the suspension is firm and the tyres are not the first choice for gravel. There's nothing to criticise about the spec.
ConclusionThe Speedfox is a successful 29er fully for the long haul. Suspension, equipment and handling are perfect, you won't make a bad purchase here.
