Everyday use, touring, easy terrain: Corratec's MTC 120 e-bike with Bosch motor has been the broad-based all-rounder in the portfolio of the brand from Upper Bavaria for years. Here comes the 2024 version of the bike, now with C-Finder theft protection.

SUV bikes have been a trend for years. Bikes with full suspension in particular provide comfort in everyday life and are also good for light off-road excursions. The Mountain-Cross model, or MTC for short, from Corratec also fills this gap. With 120 millimetres of suspension travel, it smooths out kerbs and potholes with ease, while fast-rolling crossover tyres from Schwalbe offer little grip off-road but good energy efficiency and a familiar ride feel on the road in everyday life.

Proven: Bosch Performance CX e-bike motor in the Corratec

In its SUVs, Corratec relies on the tried-and-tested Performance CX drive from Bosch and a large battery with 750 watt hours. One of the best systems on the market in terms of range. The extensive features with a sophisticated app, many different displays and a choice of batteries are also impressive. Corratec installs the Kiox 300 colour display on the MTC 120, which also has a basic navigation function in addition to many facts about the ride. Only the cheapest MTC 120 comes with a smaller 625 battery and Intuvia 100 display with black and white visualisation.

The C-Finder

Another key feature of the new bikes is the C-Finder. The chip integrated into the frame, based on Apple's Air-Tag, allows you to keep an eye on your bike at all times. The feature was already supplied ex works on many e-bikes in 2024. The tracking device is permanently integrated into the frame. The tracker does not need to be charged. It gets its power directly from the main battery and remains active for several months even when the bike is not being ridden.

As the C-Finder works via the widespread Apple network, in our experience the localisation works without any problems and, unlike competing solutions, does not incur any monthly costs. The disadvantage: The system is only compatible with Apple devices; Apple's "Find my" only works to a very limited extent with Android. Discounted insurance rates, which Corratec offers together with Axa for bikes with C-Finder, should further increase the everyday value of the bikes.

Incidentally, anti-theft tracking solutions are now available for many e-bikes. Most recently, for example on many bikes from the new Canyon fleet. Bosch also offers a corresponding solution with its Connect module, which is even superior to the Air tags in some functional details. However, unlike the Apple solution, this is associated with long-term costs: 40 euros per year or 5 euros per month are due; the price level is similar for other tracking providers.

For everyday use and touring: The equipment of the Corratec E-Power MTC 120

Fixed lights and mudguards, pannier rack with a load capacity of 25 kilos: The MTC 120 thus appeals specifically to users who want to use the bike with panniers for commuting as well as for longer cycle tours. As with the very similar SUV fullys Specialised's Tero X (here in the test) or Giants Stance E+ EX (test here) The suspension travel provides comfort, while the mountain bike geometry ensures high riding stability. The MTC 120 is available from 4899 euros in three equipment variants with attachments of varying quality.

The MTC 120 Pro for 5499 euros is the top model in the range and offers better equipment as well as a suspension Vario seatpost.

In the mid-range model for 5199 euros, Corratec installs air suspension from SR Suntour, the cheapest twelve-speed drivetrain from Sram (SX Eagle), hydraulic disc brakes from Tektro and wheels from Corratec's own brand ZZYZX. The € 5499 top model Corratec MTC 120 Pro with Rockshox suspension and GX Eagle is a little more upmarket. The entry-level model comes with almost identical equipment, but with a cheaper display and smaller battery.
