Schwalbe Evolution, Performance & Active: What is it?
What is the difference between the Schwalbe Evolution, Performance and Active Line MTB tyres? The MTB tyre expert from Schwalbe explains.

Answer from Markus Hachmeyer, SchwalbeThe differences are as follows:

1) Schwalbe Evolution Line:

The best that is feasible. The highest quality materials. The latest technology. Strongly focussed on competition use. Features:
a) 67epi or 127epi skin evolution carcass (more flexible due to more acute carcass angle)
b) Snake-Skin sidewall reinforcement (optional, but now standard on many tyres)
c) Triple Star Comp: three different compound combinations (PaceStar, TrailStar, VertStar) consisting of six individual compounds, which differ greatly in terms of grip, rolling resistance and damping. These are combined as base, centre and shoulder compounds in such a way that optimum performance is achieved for the respective application.
d) Aramid folding bead core
e) Minimum possible weight
f) Evolution optics

2) Schwalbe Performance Line:

Excellent quality for intensive use. Features:
a) 67epi-Skin carcass
b) ORC compound: durable with good performance. We have had this compound in our programme for a long time. It was our top compound in the MTB sector before the introduction of the triple compound.
c) Aramid folding bead core or multiple steel core
d) Low weight
e) Performance label

3) Schwalbe Active Line:

Reliable brand quality for the occasional user. Features:
a) 50epi carcass
b) SBC compound: standard compound without special performance properties.
c) Active Line lettering
